About MDO

Makhir/Maakhir Diaspora Organization (MDO) is a community-based nonprofit organization formed to advance the social welfare, needs, economic, and political interests of the Makhir community in the diaspora and in the homeland. MDO’s property is managed by an eleven (11) community board of directors with a two-year term of office. Board members are dedicated volunteers who shall not receive compensation for their service. All membership fees and donations are fully allocated to supporting MDO programs and projects.

Appreciation to Members

Through our members’ generosity, we have done multiple projects as follows:

• Completed a computer lab project at the Somali National University, Badhan, Sanaag 
• Secured online virtual science lab access from the University of Colorado (PhET intensive simulation lab)
• Successfully held two major conferences in Minneapolis, MN
• Telegram meeting sessions for community engagement, including town hall sessions for City Council members and mayors of cities in the Maakhir region.
